Omeath / Lislea Partnership Launch
The guest speaker at the launch will be Séamus Mac Dhaibhéid from Newry
Séamus has been promoting Oriel connections for several years and has a particular interest in local history. In the context of the geographic differences between Omeath and Lislea, and their situation within two jurisdictions, he will endeavour to present their shared experiences – be that subsistence living, economic experiments, links with Newry Town, Irish language maintenance and revival, and literary output in the Gaelic tradition. The distinct dialect of Oriel Irish of course is the key bond that unites all in this part of South East Ulster / North Leinster.
The opening event will be short, relaxed, interactive, and will involve a mini-indoor promenade that looks at items of Oriel linguistic interest.
Wednesday 21st May 2025 @7pm at The Dolmen Centre Omeath
