This large pot was originally housed at Altomore House in Drummullagh and later at Glebe House (Rectory). at the time of the famine altomore House was owned by the Mc-Garry family. The Famine pot was used to provide starving locals with daily substance. One local is credited with the saying ‘ Bad and all as things are, we didn’t have to go to Mc Garry’s pot ‘

It is still housed in the village today.
